Grate
the rind of 1/2 an orange.
Squeeze the juice and add enough boiling water to
make 3/4 cup liquid.
Add the grated rind and 2 tablespoons butter- stir to
melt.
In another bowl beat together 1 egg and 1 cup sugar, and add to the orange mixture.
Add 1 cup chopped cranberries and 1/4 cup poppy seeds.
Sift
together the following:

cups flour (we recommend whole wheat pastry flour)
1/2 tsp. salt
1/2 tsp.
baking soda
Stir into first mixture. Spoon into a buttered loaf pan 9 by 5 inches. Sprinkle
generously with poppy seed.
Bake 1 hour at 325 degrees.
